Jane is Vice President of the congregation and Janet comes along for services here. The officiate will be the Reverend Michael Hiller, a good friend and terrific pastor. St. Francis was originally a Danish Lutheran church established at the turn of the 20th century – portraits of the King and Queen of Denmark still hang in the parish hall. We are a small, active and activist church trying to do good things in the world. We sponsor a daycare center, a senior center, a homeless outreach, and have a lot of fun. We raise significant funds for AIDs research and care for those who live with the disease. We follow a traditional Lutheran (Protestant) liturgy. More about St. Francis can be found on their website. This magnificent building was where the United Nations Charter was signed in 1945. It is also where Jane and Janet met in 2001. The symphony hall and opera house are next door, and the gorgeous city hall is across the street. The Green Room was designed to resemble the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles and was intended to be used to welcome dignitaries and honored visitors to San Francisco – a perfect place to welcome our guests.
